What We Do

Our team of social workers works alongside defense attorneys to address non-legal needs that may impact a client's case and overall well-being. Using a holistic, trauma-informed, and client-centered approach, we focus on helping individuals stabilize, connect to treatment and services and support mitigation efforts when appropriate.

We collaborate closely with GPDC defense counsel and community partners across the state to ensure clients have access to the resources and support they need.

Needs & Strengths Assessments

Personalized evaluations identifying challenges and building on existing strengths.

Each client receives a comprehensive evaluation covering mental health, substance use, housing stability, employment readiness, family dynamics, and community connections. This assessment forms the foundation of your individualized case plan.

Individualized Case Plans

Custom plans tailored to address specific needs and set achievable goals.

Working collaboratively with you and your Public Defender, we develop a step-by-step plan with measurable milestones. Plans are reviewed monthly and adjusted based on your progress, changing needs, and input from your legal team.

Community Resource Referrals

Connections to housing, treatment, employment, and other local services.

We maintain partnerships with over 200 community organizations statewide — from housing authorities and treatment centers to job training programs and food assistance. We don't just refer; we follow up to ensure you're connected and supported.

Progress Monitoring

Ongoing tracking to ensure you stay on track with rehabilitation goals.

Regular check-ins, outcome tracking, and court reporting keep everyone aligned. We celebrate your wins and troubleshoot obstacles in real-time, ensuring continuous momentum toward your goals.

Eligibility

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Must be referred by a Georgia Public Defender
  • Private attorney clients not eligible

How It Works

1

Referral

Your Public Defender identifies that you may benefit from social services and submits a referral.

2

Case Assignment

Once a referral is received, the case is assigned to a social worker who will initiate services.

3

Assessment

An assessment is conducted to identify the client's needs. This helps our social workers make informed referrals to community-based resources and ensure the client is connected to the most appropriate support.

4

Ongoing Case Management + Multidisciplinary Team Support

Clients receive ongoing support through case management and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to address their needs and connect them with appropriate resources.

Post-Services

Continued support may be provided after services conclude to help clients maintain stability and stay connected to resources as needed.
